A House Of Cards...

  • Unless you've been hiding under a rock the last few days, you've probably seen images of people in the streets of Greece protesting the government cut backs in social spending.

The Greeks are trying to squeeze blood from a turnip, but the turnip is bone dry. There is nothing left to squeeze.

What is happening in Greece is something that's going to happen all over the world. It's called a day of reckoning and it is going to find its way to the shores of America. It's time to pay the piper.

What's happening in Greece is, really, very simple. The nation has lived beyond its means for decades now (sound familiar?) and the government refused to do anything about it and now the bill has come due.

Greece is broke and holding its hand out to the rest of the world to bail them out. The problem this time is that most of the rest of the world is broke too.

Spain and Italy are in financial dire straits and many of the European Union countries are not far behind. The situation is so critical that the whole thing will most likely come crashing down like a house of cards.

Bailing Greece out would be worse than foolish. It would be like pouring water through a sieve and no matter how much capital is expended trying to bail them out, they will remain broke until the take some huge steps toward fiscal sanity.

These same seeds have begun germinating in the United States, we are broke and our government refuses to stop borrowing and spending money.

Obama wants to raise taxes, but even if taxes are raised exponentially, it would only create two adverse effects on the economy. It would remove money from the private sector that would otherwise be invested in starting and expanding companies, which would serve to create jobs.

Secondly, the extra tax revenues would not go to reduce our national debt, but to fund more social programs, hence perpetuating the problem.

The beginnings of the fiscal insurrection in America has already started in New York with the "Occupy Wall Street" movement and since has spread across the nation to other cities.

Now, if you were to go among the people tying up traffic on Wall Street and ask them what they want to happen, a lot of them could not give an intelligent answer. They are just there for the party.

They have, however, issued a manifesto and among the provisions, they want cancellation of all debt, public and private, completely open borders, a living wage regardless of employment and abolition of all private insurers, among other silly and asinine proposals that would shut down the nation in about two weeks.

Now wait, before you start tripping out on me, the democrats are now taking up with the movement. Nancy Pelosi is siding with these people and that scares the living hell out of me.

The goals they claim to aspire to are totally unattainable (which is probably the point) just as the goals of the people rioting in the streets of Greece are unattainable.

There is no such thing as a socialist utopia, prosperity and socialism cannot live within the same system.

That's where the people in Greece and the people picketing Wall Street just don't get it.

Where is the money supposed to come from to support this monolithic welfare state?

And another thing you really should ponder...

Who is financing these people? And what are they gaining?

    What do you think?

Pray for our troops and for our Country

    God Bless America
